Skilled hackers can exploit software bugs to gain total control of a computer system. Buffer Overflows, SQL injection, Command injection, Cross Site Scripting, Cross Site Request Forgery, Path name traversal, network sniffing, trojan horses and other techniques exploit software errors to give an attacker access to your systems. This class will explore these techniques with an eye to prevention.
The internet is a dangerous place. Celebrities aren’t the only ones getting their data stolen. Learn some of the things you can do to protect your computer and your data. How to use encryption, strong credentials, multiple factor authentication, and other methods to protect your data, or at least limit the potential damage of software flaws discussed in the first class.
NOTE: Participation in the first class, “Got Root?” on October 10th is NOT required to take this class.

There will be a one hour long Xerocraft Staff training session on October 6 at 6:00pm on table saw safety. This training was requested at a Xerocraft planning session in July. We are bringing in a wood shop safety expert to provide this training so please try to attend.
It is incorrect to assume the SawStop table saw is inherently safe due to its built-in safety features. The purpose of this training session is to provide all staff members sufficient knowledge to recognize and correct unsafe table saw practices. We have many guests coming into the Xerocraft Wood Shop and some of them have very little table saw experience. Mr. Ken Tower taught high school wood shop for 30 years. He will explain how to recognize and correct common table saw safety issues.
This is important training regardless of your current table saw skill level. We want all Xerocraft staff members to be able to correct any potential safety issues in the wood shop. Your participation is important to the future of Xerocraft.
All attendees must have signed liability waivers on file and wear eye protection while in the wood and metal shops at all times.
